Character creation is really not all that hard. A couple things you need to remember. This was a manufactured world that lost its way from its destination. Therefore there are lost souls and mutations that may not have been with the original set but are there now. There are some that have left the world to find help and forgot where they came from, these are lost souls that find their way back to the society. Even tho its now changed, it is their original story and life.
Everyone is altered on Karsadia in some way even the humans. These can be subtle changes or big ones. Some are genetic and heritary and some are manufactured and will be lost with the next offspring.
The Karsadians love to alter their genetics for the faster better them. And they have already been altered even by the nature of the doomsday device as well as the original leak. They are all scientists at heart even if they are not truely scientists.
Karsadians are like a druidic society. The 5 elements are well rooted in their culture and in every cermony.
Even their symbol suggests connection with the 5 elements. Earth is green, Air is gold or yellow. Water is blue. Fire is red. The crystal tree and the dragon represent the spirit. These are sacred.
NEVER EVER refuse ceremony from a Karsadian. Its huge in their society. These can and do include honor spars. To refuse a ceremony is dishonorable and worse then being an animal. The way to get back in the good graces of a Karsadian is to show you understand the ceremony and to accept it. Also to preform what is called an honor spar. If you win, they accept that the gods have forgiven you and thus you are forgiven. If you fail then it is up to the Karsadian to decide whether you are worthy of honor again. Some spars are to the death depending on how much you angered them.
There is a caste system on Karsadia. No one is above Eliza DeManjrick (Eaglefeather) and her family. They are the ruling class and will not be overthroned sorry, the end, not happening.
However you can still be of nobility. This is most common when it comes to the roleplayers to be of nobility. You can be given council or knighthood, which are higher then nobility in the rank.
Hybrids however tend to be of the commoner class. They are like servants. They are not to rule as they are very animal like in some way.
Humans can be nobility but many are just commoners.
Also much of the influence of the Karsadian society can be found in japanese, mayan, and egyptian culture. After all if you know about the Sirius conspiracy, you would know that the Karsadians long ago did visit Earth and brought some their culture with them. They were going to return but lost their way there and are 6000 years late in their return.
Now they are back and rule the skies while Kennet Deerhunter rules below. He has acknowledged Eliza and her family to rule the skies.
So in response to making a character:
1. What race are you? What is the mutation you take? Is it beneficial, cosmetic or is it a flaw?
2. What class are you? What tends to be your affinity? Are you a Scientist, Mechanic/Engineer, Merchant, or are you a man or woman of the cloth a Priestess? Are you a healer? Are you warrior class? You may duel class but a warrior can't be also a healer or a priestess. A healer and priestess can't also be a warrior.
3. Character Clothing/Avatar please need to fit the part of your race. Think of clothing like medieval, with japanese, mayan, or egyptian style when in dress robes. When dealing with normal clothing it would be medieval with alot of sci-fi built in. Just keep the scripting down to a mininum if you can.
Think of the following movies as inspiration and only as inspiration:
Dune, Neverending Story, Star Trek, StarCraft (the game), Star Wars and I am sure you can think of more.
4. Do yourself a favor make a backstory that fits the part. You do not have to be born on Karsadia. You can be a lost soul however you were once of the society.
If you are hybrid chances are you are a commoner. Humaniod more likely you are more noble. Humans in between.
5. How did you get your mutation? Was it genetic or was it mechanically a cultural alteration.
6. Put stats and age to your character. Remember you do not have to follow human age. Many Karsadians are very very old in human standpoint.
7. Special Ablity: make sure you have the equipment to pull it off and don't over do it.
